Rivermaya swept the nominations for the highly anticipated MTV Pilipinas Music Video Awards 2005 – garnering the most number of nominations for the prestigious event, across all major categories. The band recently received the award for “Favorite Group – Philippines” at the MTV Asia Awards 2005, which recognizes only one artist per country throughout the region.

MTV Pilipinas announced that Rivermaya topped the list of nominees with three nods for the music video of its mammoth hit “You’’ll Be Safe Here” (namely Favorite Group, Best Video, and Best Director for Pedring Lopez.) In addition, Rivermaya received a fourth nomination for “Balisong” for Favorite Song.
“You’ll Be Safe Here” is set in an enchanted forest, capturing the magic and power of true love – a multi-platinum seller that has captured the hearts of music-lovers across the country.

Rivermaya headlines a series of voting parties organized by MTV Pilipinas at bars, malls, and campuses across Metro Manila, to bring fans and listeners up close and personal with the band that’s been justifiedly dubbed “Ang Banda ng Bayan.” Catch Rivermaya on Aug. 5, at the College of St Benilde, Aug. 12 at SM Mega Mall, and Aug. 22 at 6Underground, CJ Palanca Street, Legaspi Village and log onto www.rivermaya.net for additional schedules.
