Rivermaya To Perform at MTV Asia Awards 2006


MTV Asia Pacific today announced that Rivermaya is set to perform at the MTV Asia Awards 2006, set for May 6th at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok.

It is the first time a Filipino rock band has been invited to perform in the awards' history.

The all-star line-up also features Korn, Hoobastank, Japan's hip-hop super group Teriyaki Boyz, Vanness Wu of F4, Thailand's top chanteuse Tata Young, Vicky Zhao of China, and Australia's breakthrough artist The Veronica's.

Hosting the event will be Kelly Rowland, the soul of Destiny's Child, and Cantopop superstar Wang Leehom.

Rivermaya, took home the Philippines' Favorite Artist award at the MTV Asia Awards 2005 and is once again nominated for the same honor this year.

The group, that's been dubbed "Ang Banda ng Bayan" by its legions of fans across the Philippines, has developed a large cult following among musicians in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand , and Indonesia.

The MTV Asia Awards 2006 will be available to over 400 million households via 43 channels as well as through syndication worldwide.
